THE SERPENT DESCENDING and the NASA broadcast of the Pyramid and the "Serpent Shadow" by Jon R. Welker "Coming events cast their shadows before." On the morning of Sunday, March 20, 2005, I caught a bit of news, and that which I heard triggered in my mind what I have recently shared about comets, and the heavens declaring the times in which we live; and the titanic battle that's taking place with the serpent. The serpent was seen descending March 20, 2005 - the spring equinox - and for the first time in history it will be photographed, and broadcast, by NASA. I think it is tremendously momentous because this will be the first time in history that this event, which began to take place in 1976, is going to be photographed and made available by NASA on web-sites, etc. That day is the vernal equinox, but when I state that, I am referring to the event that commenced somewhere on 3/20, such as in Australia, but it continues into the next day. This event began to manifest in 1976, because of the alignment in the heavens. This particular event which is being photographed took place at a Mayan pyramid/temple in Chichen Itza, on Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula. Keep alert to what I share, and keep watching! "So likewise ye [you], when ye shall SEE all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors." Matthew 24:33 I have referenced this Scripture frequently in connection with the events of the Indonesian tsunami, and our more recent ability to broadcast images of events from satellites into cell phones, satellite TV, web-sites with other such technological devices. I want to share some background so that it (the serpent decending) will have greater impact, and so that you won't be tempted to think that I'm just pulling "a rabbit out of a hat." This event has been manifesting since 1976, but was photographed (videoed) by NASA for the first time, NASA has international influence. That focused worldwide attention on this Mayan pyramid and the "serpent descending." Here let me quote from Revelation chapter 12. First, verse 9: "And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him." Verse 12: "Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down [descended] unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time." Now, turn to Romans chapter 1. How does Satan come down, descend? With great wrath! In Romans chapter 1, verses 17 through 20, we also read of wrath, God's wrath: "For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven [now, Satan descends from heaven with great wrath; and the wrath of God is revealed from heaven] against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath SHEWED IT unto them. For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly SEEN, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse…." "That old serpent" descends with great wrath. Is it his wrath or God's wrath? Regardless, it's interconnected.... And the wrath of God shall be revealed - to the ungodliness that is being manifested on the earth. The "serpent shadow" descending at Chichen Itza will be photographed and broadcast on web-sites. As I already stated, this has been happening each year at the vernal and autumnal equinoxes since 1976, but this is the first time that its going to actually be photographed by NASA. The day of this event is Palm Sunday for most of Christendom, which was also Sun/Earth Day. Now, let's consider some other Scriptures. Job 26, verse 13: "By His Spirit He hath garnished the heavens; His hand hath formed the crooked serpent." (KJV) "His hand transfixed the fleeing serpent" (Jerusalem Bible translation). "...by His Spirit the heavens are adorned." (Darby) Now, let's look at Job chapter 38, verses 31-33: "Canst thou bind the sweet influences of Pleiades, or loose the bands of Orion? Pleiades is associated with the word Succoth (in Syriac, according to E.W. Bullinger), hence, booths or the Firstfruits. "Canst thou bring forth Mazzaroth [the signs of the zodiac] in his season? or canst thou guide Arcturus with his sons? [The alpha star in the constellation of Bootes, in line with the tail of the constellation known as the Great Bear] Verse 33: "Knowest thou the ordinances of heaven? canst thou set the dominion thereof in the earth?" God has determined these events in the heavens, and how they function. So this Scripture mentions Pleiades and Orion. Keep that in mind, because this event links with these particular constellations. Now let us consider Luke 21, verses 10 and 11: "Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven." Matthew's Gospel mentions only the "great signs" from heaven, but did you notice the phrase before in Luke's Gospel? Fearful sights! In the CRITICAL LEXICON AND CONCORDANCE by E.W. Bullinger, we find that the Greek word for fearful in Luke 21:11 means terrible, awesome, a warning of some catastrophic event to follow. Not only "great signs" from heaven, but "fearful sights." So, multitudes saw photographed (videoed), the moving serpent (the shadow actually gives the appearance of moving as it descends the stairs of the Mayan pyramid). The following description is from the "exploratorium.edu" web-site: "As the equinox sun sets, a play of light and shadow creates the appearance of a snake that gradually undulates down the stairway of the pyramid. This diamond-backed snake is composed of seven or so triangular shadows, cast by the stepped terraces of the pyramid. The sinking sun seems to give life to the sinuous shadows, which make a decidedly snakey pattern on their way down the stairs." Now let me quote a news bulletin which was heard on NPR, Sunday morning, 3/20/05: Today, March 20th, is also the vernal equinox, the first day of spring, which coincides with Sun/Earth Day. To celebrate the event, NASA will broadcast the setting sun at the ancient Mayan site Chichen Itza in southern Mexico. A shadow shaped like a serpent descends the great pyramid. I was given a copy of a drawing entitled "Zenith Cosmology over Chichen Itza" which depicts the alignment of Pleiades and the Sun on May 20th, the vernal equinox. The pyramid/temple is topped by a sort of column signifying Pleiades, known to the Yucatec Maya as the "rattle [of the snake] constellation," and also the face of the solar "Ahau" symbol of the Crotalus rattlesnake. It is this structure which causes the "shadow" as the earth moves about the sun. The pyramid has 9 levels, and at the base on either side is constructed into it the head of a serpent. As the sun shines over the column on top, it casts a shadow of the "serpent" as though descending the steps, and eventually the shadow meets and sort of "superimposes" itself directly on the stone serpent head at the base. Since March of 1976, the "shadow serpent" has been descending the steps every vernal and autumnal equinox. Also mentioned in the depiction is Kukulcan, also known as Quetzalcoatl, the plumed or fiery serpent, manifesting as a cosmic reminder of something on this day. Let me quote some paragraphs from a web-site called omegactr.com: At Chichen Itza, the pyramid El Castillo reflects the precision of Mayan solar astronomy. Tracing the path of the sun across the ecliptic and the horizon, the Maya were aware of the extreme positions of the sun on both solstices and equinoxes. With this knowledge, the Maya ascertained the location of the sun on the Spring equinox and the Fall Solstice and integrated this understanding into the construction of El Castillo; at sunset on these days, the interaction of light and show projected down the side of the main staircase - which is marked with twin snake heads at the bottom - creating the image of a serpent descending to the ground. South of El Castillo stands yet another testament to the astronomical achievements of the Maya…." This is also known as "the cosmic serpent within." "…Waiting for a message from the galactic serpent that the energy was transforming for yet another cosmic cycle of sentient life and renewal. " "Chichen Itza was [to those attending the event] a cosmic kundalini experience brought on by the subtle energies of these wondrous sites built for such timeless events. The rising kundalini energy is archetypically synonymous with serpent power. Mikkel Dahl has mentioned the life force in the spinal chord and the need to pull this energy up instead of down. When it's pulled down, it is descending, and becomes something much more carnal. But when pulled up, it has greater power. Consider the serpent that was lifted up by Moses, versus the serpent cast down. "Therefore the people came to Moses, and said, `We have sinned, for we have spoken against the LORD, and against thee; pray unto the LORD, that He take away the serpents from us.' And Moses prayed for the people. And the LORD said unto Moses, `Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live.' And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived." Numbers 21:7-9 " And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have eternal life." John 3:14-15 "And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, and prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him." Revelation 12:7-9 "And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, and cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season." Revelation 20:1-3 At Chichen Itza we witness the magical by-yearly event that attracts people from all over the globe. On the late afternoon of the equinox the Feathered Serpent descends in a glory of shadow and light down the great pyramid, signaling the most auspicious time to plant the essential and most revered food staple of the Maya, corn [or maize]. The event is the most dramatic display of Mayan astronomical knowledge encoded into architecture of any Mayan site yet discovered. …After a millennium of existence, this pyramid still functions as a highly reliable way to pinpoint the changes of the seasons. Now let me quote from an article entitled "The Path of the Sun and Mayan Prophesy": It is common knowledge that sun travels 182 days to the north, and returns 182 days to the south again every Earth year. This is the season or cycle of the solstices. At the midpoint of this season/cycle is another cycle of the east and west called the equinoxes. On the equinox, the sun crosses at a center point of all 4 seasons making exact 90 degree angels directly on top of the pyramid of Kukulcan in the sacred site of Chichen Itza. This creates the phenomenon known worldwide of a shadow of a serpent. This shadow contains 7 triangles that represent the awakening of our seven centers of the physical body and illustrates our connection with the Pleiades. This event happens every equinox, but it is in the year 1995 that the reawakening of the cosmic human was activated. This is clearly stated in the paraphrased sacred Mayan prophesies.... I want to remind you that in 1994 the 21 fragments of comet Shoemaker/Levy bombarded Jupiter; and then in 1996 comet Hyakutake appeared. The "reawakening" mentioned was right in between - in 1995. Here is a rendering or paraphrase from a sacred Mayan text of the Mayan prophecy: "In the year 1475, before the arrival of the Spanish, the Supreme Maya Council revealed that a calendar cycle of twice the KAEaltun of 260 years had to go by in order for the Maya Solar Culture to flourish again for the benefit of mankind…. In the spring of 1995, this 520 year period will be completed, bringing to an end the cycle of darkness brought by the Spaniards to the land of the Sun. …1995 is a decisive year and the sacred human race will have to enter the path of cosmic light if it is to remain a thinking species…. The human race will have to seek the path of initiation on Earth and in Heaven…. Through Solar Initiation they will be able to see the luminosity of the great spirit.… Through Solar Initiation, the sleeping body of mankind can be awakened…. Hunab KAEu (God in Mayan) will flash like lightning that will pierce through the shadows that envelop the human race. Jesus said: "I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you." Luke 10:18-19 Continuing... Let us prepare to receive the light of knowledge that comes from Hunab KAEu and transcend into the memory of the creator and become beings of eternal luminosity. Satan is also known as "the luminous one." A definition of luminous is: "Emitting light, especially emitting self-generated light." In Isaiah 14:12, he is called Lucifer, which means 'light-bearer' or 'shining one' in the original Hebrew. The ancient Mayans believed this event was "an initiation into cosmic consciousness" and would, therefore, "reawaken humanity into the `Age of Knowledge.'" Isn't it interesting that since 1995 many things which we're now encountering in world events were tremendously propelled forward. It's now been a decade. And think of the advances in genetic engineering, and computer technology. Sure, we had such things before, but just think of the advances in this last 10 years! John Major Jenkins has stated that Kukulcan (or Quetzalcoatl, the plumed serpent), symbolized the sun-Pleiades-zenith conjunction. Solar positioning over Chichen Itza on May 20th, is exactly 60 days after the spring equinox. The column atop the pyramid/temple is fashioned after the Crotalus rattlesnake, a familiar pattern in Mesoamerican art, with the "Ahau" solar glyph of the Maya. The rattle (tzab) represents the Pleiades star cluster in the shoulder of the constellation Taurus, the Bull. Because of the "motion" of the precession of the equinox, this Pleiades/Sun conjunction over Chichen Itza, causing the "shadow serpent" to move down the 9 levels, only occurs during a 72-year period. This time around is from 1976 to 2048. It's interesting to note that the half-way mark of this time period just happens to be the year 2012. In the Fall 2004 issue of the Shepherdsfield Update, No. 51, we published an article entitled "The End of Time(?) and The Mayan Calendar." In that article I stated: ...God entrusted basic truths to the descendents of Adam, and through his descendents on down through all the cultures of earth. ...For this article I would like to share some intriguing information which we can distill from the original cultures of the Americas, and especially that of the Mayans. ...Now then, the point I wish to share is that according to the Mayan calendar, time ends, or is no longer computed, after the year 2012 A.D. ...So, let us consider the Mayan calendar and "the end of time," while considering verses from the book of Revelation which states that there will be "time no longer" (Rev. 10:5-6). In some material I have regarding the Jewish Zohar, etc., I found this quote: In the older portion of the site of Chichen Itza there is a well-known observatory called the Caracol. It is a solar observatory used to mark the seasons. Unfortunately the small windows used to sight the sun on critical dates - the solstice and equinox - do not line up at all. Again, to the east of North! Then there is a discussion regarding the two norths. We have a true north, and we have a magnetic north. The Mayans believed that Quetzalcoatl, the plumed serpent (the comet?), impacted the earth and changed true north from the magnetic north. E.W. Bullinger stated that Thuban, the alpha star in the constellation of Draco, the dragon or serpent, was the pole star over 4,600 years ago. That would make it the pole star at the time the Great Pyramid of Gizeh was built, and for a period of time thereafter. It has been stated that the pole star could not only be seen by day(!), but also by night from the bottom of the descending passageway in the Pyramid. "Fearful sights"! "When you shall begin to SEE these things…." Though this has been seen by people who have traveled to the Chichen Itza pyramid since 1976, this was the first time NASA decided to broadcast it so that multitudes [of the inhabitants] of the earth could SEE the serpent descending! This serpent appears to move as its shadow progresses down the Mayan temple staircase. Mikkel Dahl used to stress that "coming events cast their shadows before." Continuing.... Was it a comet that was respon-sible for the change in the rotation, the size, or the presentation of the Earth? There is no evidence of an actual strike or close pass represented in the stone glyphs. So why is the Feathered Serpent associated with the calendar change? And so how could a comet effect a change in the solar electromagnetic flux? In James McCanney's article, "The Origin of Comets," he explains that comets are in fact electromagnetic in nature, NOT dirty snowballs as we have been taught by traditional science. These sometimes tremendous objects streak through the solar capacitor creating a short and attracting the plasma from the solar field and indeed setting the system into electromagnetic destabil-ization. Great disturbances occur not only in the field but are possible in the sun and planets themselves, such as atmospheric expansion, weather and geological com-motions. Disequilibrium is possible, depending upon the extent of the disturbance determined by size and power ratios, creating the need or tendency for stabilization. The fact that these structures throughout the Americas have been faltered by a shift is reasonable. Matter of fact, some sources report that at a particular time the Mayans decided when the true north and the magnetic north changed. They then placed some sort of outer covering over the pyramid, even though the underneath set-up of the pyramid was set to the previous true north markings. There are literally dozens, if not hundreds of examples throughout the Americas. As previously stated, arguing about these beliefs will not change the ideas of one person or the other. The structures stand. They stand as they did hundreds of years ago. They have witnessed the sun over head for centuries. And they tell quite well the changes that have occurred. The Mayans put their temples at that center of the universe. That universe was rocked when the heavens above began to flee from their eyes that were poised upward. The Pyramids of Egypt have also been a long-standing enigma. Recently it was hypothesized that they were built many millennia ago (>10,000 years B.C.)…. It is also known that Abraham was a great astronomer…. The Egyptians learned well this technique of watching the stars and the sun for the alignment of the Earth. A small deflection could mean years of human suffering for a people, unpopularity for a king and a lost head for those of the Pharaoh's court. In ancient China it was known that if the royal astronomers failed to accurately predict the eclipse that they were instantly beheaded for their sin! Many know the story of Babylon and Nebuchadnezzar, and how the astrologers, etc., were taken to task, and how Daniel said he would go in to the king and have a few words with him (Dan. 2). The astrologers faced being beheaded for their sin of not being able to tell Nebuchadnezzar his dream. The accuracy of the structure of the pyramids is incredible. But to date no one has adequately explained their purpose. Could it be that at some earlier point in history that the pyramids did serve a stellar purpose? Could it be that their purpose was to adequately chart the stars so that the people of Egypt could be prepared? But that since the occurrence of a shift, their meaning has become clouded? In John White's most recent… book, POLE SHIFT, he denounces his findings and predictions of previous years, saying: "According to the predictions and the prophecies, humanity is approaching one of the most critical junctures in the history of our planet. It seems clear that the significance of those predictions and prophecies is not in offering geophysical data but psychological guidance." In other words, the pyramids weren't constructed for scientific purposes, but in order to give guidance of impending events to people. A wise thought. Scaring people is not the point here. The point is to prepare, not only psychologically, but spiritually as well as temporally. And a second point is to reevaluate a scientific approach that is both skeptical and deceitful. The power of nature is greater than the power of man, and still king of the hill. Among the ancient Maya, the sky was a fascination among the nobility.
Early skywatchers constructed crude observatories by placing a pair of
crossed sticks inside the temple on top of a pyramid, tracking the movement
of celestial bodies across the sky by using this cross and natural features
on the horizon as reference points. Later architecture reflected more
sophisticated astronomy, as astronomical knowledge was used in the construction
of pyramids and more advanced observatories. The astronomical achievements
of the Maya are most apparent in the ruins of the Ancient city of Chichen
Itza, where the understandings of the movement of the sun, moon, and Venus
were incorporated into Mayan architecture. …The horizontal shafts in the tower walls correspond to a variety
of important lines of sight. Several lines coincide with the position
of both the setting sun and the moon on the vernal equinox. Still others
mark the location of Venus in its northernmost and southernmost setting
positions. Another series of shafts can be used to view particular constellations such as the Pleiades, which was called Tzab; Gemini which was called Ak Ek; and Scorpio, which was called Zinaan Ek; or stars such as the North Star, which was called Zamann Ek; at various times of the year. Though a further awareness of celestial positions was surely evident in this structure at the time of its construction, the partial ruin of El Castillo limits modern understandings of the full use of this observatory. "...Fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven," said Jesus (Lk. 21:11). "And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory." Matthew 24:30 Now wait a minute. If we're going to see the sign of the Son of man, should we not expect a counterfeit? If there's a great sign from heaven to be seen regarding the Son of man (maybe it's going to be something like unto this event; we shouldn't limit God), why should we not expect that Satan should also display his sign? 2012 is that very point in which the Mayan calendar declares the Great Cycle ends! Why would NASA decide to do this? Sure, it might be a good public relations campaign. Yet, how many of you were aware that this was to take place, and that it had commenced in 1976? So, why now?! Can you believe that it is a warning? "The devil has (is about to) come down (descend)..." (Rev. 12:12). I want to quote from GOD'S BIBLE IN THE HEAVENS (by N.W. Hutchings, © 1985 by The Southwest Radio Church, pages 1-4): The fear of comets goes back in history for thousands of years. They
have been looked upon as harbingers of bad news because their appearances
in the sky have been associated with plagues, earthquakes, military defeats,
and the demise of rulers. Historically and factually, such goings on that
have occurred while comets were visible in the sky. …And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up,
and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh. The
word in this scripture that is relevant to our subject is begin . This
signifies that the signs in the heavens spoken of by Jesus and the prophets
are to occur over a period of time. …According to Josephus, God revealed, even to Adam the ultimate
consequence of sin, and subse-quently the children of Seth verified by
the signs in the heavens that there would be a judgment of water, and
ultimately a judgment of fire. Of course, we do not place the writing
of Josephus on a par with Scripture. Only the Bible is inspired of God
and infallible. However, the preceding account by Josephus does cor-respond
with the prophetic Word concerning the judgment of the Flood and the coming
Great Tribulation. The land of Siriad, as verified by most encyclopedias,
is that part of Egypt where the pyramids are located. Therefore, the pillar
of stone referred to by Josephus would probably be the Great Pyramid of
Giza, or the nearby Sphinx which tells the story of the Precession of
the Equinox. The first sign in the heavens after the Flood was the rainbow….
There are many notable examples in the Old Testament by which God has revealed His will to His earthly people, Israel, and to the prophets of Israel signs in the heavens. This was certainly not the primary way God communicated with Israel, but it was one of the ways, as we read in…Joel 2:30 and 31: And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come. Now I will quote from Joseph Seiss, GOSPEL IN THE STARS (© 1884 by Joseph A. Seiss, pages 265-266): Among the early nations there was a widespread idea connecting this Bull [Taurus] with the Deluge, and the Pleiades - the seven stars, the Doves, the peculiar star-cluster of "sweet influences" - with the ark of Noah and those saved by it in that great judgment. "The seven stars," which the Scriptures also connect with the Church (Rev. 1:16; 2:1), are on the back of this Bull, high up on his great shoulder. The Pleiades, according to the myths, were the seven daughters of Atlas, the upholder of heaven and earth, who, with their sisters, the Hyades, in this Bull's head, were placed in heaven because of their virtues and mutual sympathy and affection. They beautifully symbolize the saints securely supported by the terrible judge, and who, together with the holy angels whom they are like, thus move with Him and His inflictions upon the guilty world. Did you notice the connection with the Pleiades and with the judgment of God by the Flood? And, according to Josephus, that also looks to the end of the Great Tribulation, also a judgment. And there is the idea of them being taken, upheld. This alludes to the Bride of Christ. This is Spring. Does it (the taking of the Bride) happen this Spring? Or do we still have some time? Is 2012 the end? And/or does the Great Tribulation commence 3 1/2 years previously? (Tishri 2012 minus 3 1/2 years = Nisan 2009.) Or, will the time be shortened? Keep Watching! Again, let me from quote E.W. Bullinger, THE WITNESS OF THE STARS (London, 1893, page 121):
Then there is the cluster of stars known as the Pleiades. This word,
which means the congregation of the judge or ruler, comes to us through
the Greek Septuagint as the translation of the Hebrew kimah, which means
the heap or accumulation, and occurs in Job ix. 9; xxxviii. 31, 32, and
Amos v. 8. Remember, the Mayans placed their temple as the center of the universe, etc. Another group of stars (on the face of the Bull) is known as The Hyades, which has the similar meaning of the congregated. Have you ever heard of "on the sides of the north"? "The congregation" - does that "ring a bell"? "Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King. Psalm 48:2 "How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, `I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High." Isaiah 14:12-14 Now, this comes from THE GLORY OF THE STARS, by E. Raymond Capt (© 1976 by Artisan Sales, pages 65-66), concerning the sign of Draco, the Dragon. The most prominent star (in one of the latter coils) is named in Hebrew,
"Thuban," which means "the subtle." About 4600 years
ago Thuban was the north Polar Star, and much closer to the true pole
than Polaris is at the present time. This star is now below the 3rd
magnitude, but it is believed to have once been as bright as Polaris.
It still possesses great interest because the mysterious downward sloping
passage in the Great Pyramid of Giza, in Egypt, points to the place that
it occupied in the sky when it was the pole star. It is believed that
the star could then be seen by day as well as by night from the bottom
of the passage deep beneath the foundation of that mighty pile of stone.
A bright star (in the head) is named "Etanin" which means
"the long serpent" or "dragon." Another bright star
(also in the head) is called "Rastaban," meaning "the head
of the subtle" (serpent). In the Arabic it is called "Al Waid,"
which means "who is to be destroyed." The Hebrew names of other
stars and their meanings are…"the subtle," …"the
punished enemy"…. …"The reptile," …"the
fraudful" …"the bowed down." Draco thus represents the sly and creeping deceiver, the Devil, called
the "Dragon," that old "Serpent." He destroys by stealth,
smoothly gliding in to betray - insinuating his poison. The Dragon and
the Serpent are one and the same, but are manifested in different ways.
No man ever saw a dragon, living or dead, yet all men talk of the dragon.
In all ages, this image or evil power has figured conspicuously in man's
myths, traditions and in his art and literature: evil, symbolized by a
dragon being vanquished by the works of gods, heroes and saints. Yet,
there is nothing in earthly zoology to explain or account for such a creature.
Mythology says the Dragon is the power that guarded the golden apples
in the famous Garden of the Hesperides, hindering men from getting them.
Does not this symbolize the Devil, "the old Serpent, the Dragon"
who deceived Adam and thus kept mortal men from the true fruits of the
Tree of Life? Mythology says this Dragon was slain by Hercules. Isn't
this portrayed in the astronomical sign of the promised Seed of the woman,
the Coming One, who is pictured with His foot on the head of the Dragon?
Isaiah refers to the time when the Lord shall come - a …"great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent; and He shall slay the dragon…" (Isa. 27:1). The Psalmist also wrote of God breaking "the heads of leviathan in pieces" and breaking "the heads of the dragons" (Ps. 74:13-14). The Pleiades also link with the overcoming ones. And so, "The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth His handywork. Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard." Psalm 19:1 There is nowhere that this hasn't gone forth. Significantly, this event was broadcast throughout all the earth! "The Serpent (Devil, Dragon) has come (is coming) down (descending) to you"! We're seeing "fearful sights" and "great signs" from heaven! It casts its shadow - it is a shadow! Remember Leviathan? Recently I've told you that Leviathan has been aroused! We saw his work as evidenced (also broadcast across the world) in the great tsunami and the earthquake that took place affecting the nations surrounding the Indian Ocean. Now we've been shown his sign - broadcast! Shall we just put this off as coincidental? Shall we just say it's nothing? "For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith
to faith: as it is written, `The just shall live by faith.' For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness…." Romans 1:17-18 Other translations state: "who by their wicked lives are stifling the truth" (TCNT) or, "whose wrongdoing denies His truth its full scope" (Knox), or "who repress and hinder the truth and make it inoperative" (Amplified)… "…because that which may be known of God is manifest
in them..." verse 19 "...Is clear to their minds" (Knox), "is plain to them" (TCNT), "is clear to their inner and moral sense" (Williams).… "…for God hath shewed it unto them. For the invisible
things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood
by the things that are made..." verses 19-20 Or, "God Himself has made it clear to them" (Knox), "have been visible...to the eye of reason, in the things He has made" (NEB), "are to be seen and studied in His works" (TCNT), "have been clearly perceptible and understandable through the things He has made" (Norlie)…. "…even His eternal power and Godhead; so that they are
without excuse…." verse 20 "There is therefore no possible defense..." (NEB). You see, God has manifested these heavenly signs throughout the earth in the various cultures at different times in history - the Chinese, the Babylonians, the Egyptians, the Mesomericas, the American Indians, etc. Throughout all the earth men have studied these things - the Celts, the British with their Stonehenge, the Greeks and Romans.... I believe God permitted this, even though their "religions" and their reasons may have been very corrupted, in order that men could look into the heavens and into "the scripture of truth" (Dan. 10:21). The heavens declare what God is intending, and has intended, as Bullinger, Seiss, and others have pointed out. And now, modern man again, for whatever his reasons, is looking at these signs. Isn't God wonderful?! At Babel they built a tower to heaven - God uses man's own devices to declare His glory. Let us take another look at Revelation 12:9, because I want you to see why I believe this is portraying, even if it's a shadow of, what's to come or could be right now at the door. First: "And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him." Revelation 12:9 "Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the Devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time." verse 12 If we read further, we see in verse 13: "And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child." What does that speak? Something momentous! "Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but He revealeth His secret unto His servants the prophets." Amos 3:7 Sure, that speaks of the Great Prophets (big `P'), but it also refers to those who are speaking forth His word today. "And He gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers...." Ephesians 4:11 That's why I am trying to draw this to the attention of many people as soon as possible. Jesus spoke not only of "great signs from heaven," but "fearful sights." For those who are God's people, this event should be a fearful sight. The Serpent has been seen descending! At another time I intend to review what happened in 1976. That was three years after the Yom Kippur War, and it was the Bicentennial of the United States. Something took place and commenced the process now unfolding until the end of the cycle of time (2012 A.D., as the Mayans believed?).
